Brecken's First Christmas

Brecken had a great Christmas. Christmas Eve we went up to Truckee to deliver gifts to some friend and went over to uncle Nates house for a cookie making party. He got to play with some other kids and had a lot of fun. Then we were off to Christmas eve mass. We got there a hour early and he had fun playing with grandma and grandpa. Grandpa always makes him laugh and smile. There was so much excitement that he missed his evening nap. We went out to dinner after church and he slept the whole time.

Christmas morning we woke up and did presents from Santa. He got a set of wood blocks that he loves; a baby Einstein movie, some clothes, slippers and teethers. About 10 am my side of the family came over for brunch and we opened more presents. Brecken had fun playing with his seven cousins. They played the build a tower with blocks and let Brecken knock it down with his mouth game. Uncle Jeff played air plane with him and he liked that, but at 22 pounds Uncle Jeff had to take a lot of breaks.

At four we drove up to Truckee to have dinner with Shaemus’ family. Brecken got to play with Mariposa and they had fun pulling each others hair. He ate his first cheerios because he found one of hers left on her entertainer.

Baby Yoga…..

Brecken is trying to learn how to crawl. We went up to Truckee last week and visited with his cousin who is one week older than him and already crawling. He has been frustrated since he watched her move around. He pulls himself up all on his knees and sits there. Sometimes he does some downward facing dogs and tries to move around like that. His newest thing is lying on his back and digging his head into the ground while he arches his back and pushes with his feet. He can actually move this way but I’m afraid that his head is going to get a flat spot if he continues. I was hoping that he wouldn’t crawl before Christmas, but I think I’m going to have to work with him because watching him like this is just too sad.
